Tebow v. Namath

Here are a couple of ways to get ready for today’s season opener between the Bills and Jets.

You can absorb all the statistics, depth charts and analysis you could possible want, courtesy of the National Football League itself.

This includes an impassioned argument from Heath Evans, former New England fullback, on why the Jets should bench their incumbent starting quarterback, Mark Sanchez, immediately in favor of Tim Tebow, a spectacular athlete and charismatic presence who throws a football slightly better than you do.

Or, you can check out these sweet highlights of another Bills-Jets curtain raiser – from 1975, when O.J. Simpson, at the peak of his athletic powers, ran wild in a 42-14 win at Rich Stadium. Meanwhile, Jets fans can get a glimpse of Joe Namath limping around on what was left of his knees. And still able to throw far better than a youthful, healthy Tebow.

As for today’s game, Buffalo’s rebuilt defensive line should overwhelm New York’s battered offensive front, while Ryan Fitzpatrick finds enough cracks in the Jets’ overrated defense to lead the Bills to a 27-16 win.
